The Antilop High Chair is designed to be easy to disassemble, making it possible to bring it with you when traveling or even to a restaurant. Plus, the seat, tray and bonus tray insert are all dishwasher safe, so cleanup is a snap (literally). As you’re choosing the right high chair for a baby, think about whether or not you want it to be able to grow with your little one.

The chair reclines and adjusts to grow with your baby, then becomes a booster seat when they reach toddler age. The Chicco Caddy Portable Hook-On Chair uses the same clamp system as the Lobster chair, but the material is tougher to clean. Simple but versatile: It can adjust to three heights, which is helpful when you’re using it as a booster seat, since some kids need a higher boost to reach the table than others. Use it at home, at restaurants, on vacation or anywhere your child needs to eat food you’ve lovingly cut into small pieces that they undoubtedly will throw on the floor.

Erica Pearson, this guide’s original author, is a former newspaper reporter with more than 15 years of experience interviewing experts in countless fields, including health, parenting, and safety. Many parents choose to keep their children in a high chair for at least several years, up until two or three years old or beyond. Once you get past that infant stage and into the toddler stage, this high chair easily converts into a booster for toddler dining. Starting solids with your baby is about exposing them to lots of different foods, but it’s also about sharing the experience of mealtime together.

The seat itself is expensive, then once you start throwing in extras like the Baby Set, tray or cushion, things can really start to add up. When it’s time to eat, simply pop it open, lock it in place, secure it to your chair and you’re good to go. Kim Grenawitzke, an occupational therapist with Solid Starts, a resource for introducing solid foods to babies, explains, “If you want to let your baby feed themselves, look for a high chair with a completely upright seat, adjustable footrest, and removable tray so that baby can join you at the table. When a deeper clean is necessary, King says that you should start by removing any trays or padded cushions.I can still see him today in my mind, sitting in that bouncer and happily moving his leg up and down so he could bounce on his own while gurgling happily. Although this model is lightweight, it’s also sturdy, and its neutral, white-and-silver design and clean lines look presentable in just about any decor. Can be used at the family table: Opsvik’s intent with the high chair (which he designed in 1972 for his 2-year-old son Thor) was to bring little ones right up to the table to eat with the rest of the family. While the Graco Blossom doesn’t fold for more compact storage, it does have front wheels and rear casters to make it easy to move about your space.
