Anthony Philips is established as the driving force and head of the band and his leaving is well documented and commented on.

Richard Macphail and also Jonathan King are featured here, whose participation has been the cause of some discussion beforehand. In fact there's only a brief bit of You'll Be In My Heart and a few comments about Tony's classical projects and a few other songs from his solo career. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. This alone isn't all that bad since it would probably be difficult for any director to find a balance between all the solo careers and what's happening with the band. Hackett's screentime was also noticeably minimal and his fans were mostly supportive of his complaint, posting hundreds of comments hailing his music and career.

At least Hugh Padgam was interviewed as part of the coverage of the important development of Collins's legendary drum sound. Gabriel's costumes and the big break with Foxtrot, the sound of Selling England By The Pound (which is given way too little time here though), the creation of The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway – during these parts, the documentary really shows how good it could have been.in the German and UK album charts – both huge markets – and that the Europe tour was quite successful. Invisible Touch is given far too much time, but the band also seems to be very focused on the success here. The main menu is quite modest – the letters w, s, l, f, h, k, r can be seen, but that probably doesn't mean anything.

The film recounts an extraordinary musical story, exploring the band’s song writing as well as emotional highs and lows and looks into the dynamic between the band members. My favourite band of all time reunited in a documentary, that sums its up, while I'd liked to have seen Steve Hackett getting more screen time this is down to those that put the documentary and not the other members of Genesis.

Sum Of The Parts” is the official authorised story of Genesis made with the full co-operation of the band members. Booklets are not the standard with DVDs and Blu-rays (for example Three Sides Live doesn't have one), but the contents seem more than a little strange here – almost like Satire. Following its broadcast, guitarist Steve Hackett expressed his displeasure, describing the documentary as a "biased account of Genesis history" that "totally ignores" his solo work. Intensely driven, he overcame personal and professional challenges to secure his place amongst the greatest vocalists in history. It tells of the band s formation at Charterhouse (where Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel and Mike Rutherford were all pupils) in the late sixties and the release of their debut album From Genesis To Revelation .

Genesis: Together and Apart is a 2014 documentary about the English rock band Genesis and its members' solo projects. There's still barely any Steve in the documentary's 80s while Tony Banks is featured with a lot of quite poor songs. However, at the end of the Gabriel era the interview scenes in that group configuration are few and far between – and even worse, it feels like Hackett was often cut out of the picture on purpose. The members of Genesis reunite to discuss the band's success and legacy in this musical documentary. Broadcast by the BBC as Together And Apart, Sum Of The Parts is the official authorised story of Genesis made with the full co-operation of the band members.Closed captions (CC) refer to subtitles in the available language with the addition of relevant non-dialogue information. The credits reveal some other apparently unused interviews – Sebastien Lamothe and Marc LaFlamme of The Musical Box are named among others. The story then moves on through the departure of founder member Anthony Phillips and the arrival of Phil Collins and Steve Hackett in 1970 to form the 5-man line-up that established the band s career with albums such as Foxtrot and The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway .
