Description

Cacti and succulents are usually relatively trouble-free, if the correct growing conditions are provided. Most indoor cacti and succulents should be watered thoroughly once the surface of the compost feels dry to the touch during spring and summer, so check first before you apply water. This product was designed and produced by our fantastic volunteers, recycling items that would normally go into landfill. We recommend putting all five discs in a water tight container and mixing with 150ml (5x30ml) water.

Next, make sure to stop fertilization during this dormancy period, and reduce waterings back to once a month, at most. Grow your own variety of spiky cactus plants with this kit, it contains everything you need to grow a captivating mixture of 6 spiky cactus, Texas Prickly Pear, Arizona Barrel, Pink Flowering, Fishhook Barrel, Sonoran Desert Giant and California Barrel. This cultivar is round in shape, with attractive purple flowers, and can grow up to four inches tall and eight inches wide. When planting hardy succulents outdoors in containers, simply follow our guide to container planting. Just be sure to use a proprietary cactus compost, or 2 parts by volume of John Innes No 2, with 1 part horticultural grit or sharp sand mixed in, and top off with a mulch of horticultural grit or fine gravel. Harvesting and propagating pups contributes to the health of the mother plant while allowing you to replicate the plant. Some hardier or half-hardy types can be grown outdoors in sunny, sheltered spots, creating an exotic or Mediterranean look.

If you've been looking for a new desk pal whether in your office or working from home, this kit is for you! Forest cactus likes well-draining soil, as well, but can often grow just fine in a regular potting mix. Please take time to read our Privacy Policy which explains what data we collect and why, how we use it and other information relevant to the privacy of your data. In general, an indoor cactus plant should last for ten years, but some delicate species might only last a few months. Though individual species of cactus may differ in the amount of water they require, a good general rule is to let the soil dry out completely before watering. Considering I’m a complete newbie and have had success at least getting them to sprout both times, I would say give this kit a shot!
