Description

Uncle B was my favourite character because he was saying nice things about people and helping to look after them. I started to read it to him to calm him down prior to him leaving Nanny’s to go home (always a trial) and he was enthralled. Still determined to fulfil his mission, Max discovers the best way to cross the road – with the help of the lollipop lady and some careful detective work. The story begins with PA Hedgehog explaining to his children about the problems that hedgehogs have in crossing the road to get to the park.

As an alternative activity, children will move around to different fact stations, collecting facts about hedgehogs and recording them as they go.Max is a young hedgehog who wants to go to the park with his family because it is known for it's good hunting. This book would be very useful for teaching children about road safety in a PSHE or citizenship lesson. This Planning a Non-chronological Report Year 2 English pack includes a detailed lesson plan, an engaging set of slides for the teaching input, and differentiated resources. Sparkling humour and wonderful characters are Dick King-Smith’s trademarks’ – Books for Your ChildrenMax is a hedgehog who lives with his family in a nice little home, but it’s on the wrong side of the road from the Park where there’s a beautiful lily pond and plenty of juicy slugs, worms and snails!

Firstly, he finds a zebra crossing and decides that this must be the secret to crossing the road safely. It's anthropomorphic, though written as if the narrator is a part of the hedgehogs' world, rather than the humans' world. Please be aware that, for copyright purposes, we are unable to provide the full text for this scheme of work. Perfect for young listeners, this magical collection features one of Dick King-Smith's most-loved stories: The Hodgeheg. Now that your KS1 class knows all sorts of facts about hedgehogs, it’s time to plan their non-chronological reports! However poor Max sustains a bump to the head during one of his expeditions resulting in his muddled speech.

He does so and, after the driver of a milk float almost crashes to avoid him, Max arrives home safely.

I also like it when Max’s dad, a fellow Hedgehog, snuck into the next door neighbours garden and stole all of their dog food, which they enjoy eating.

The next morning at the crack of dawn a family of hedgehogs cross the road with the help of the lolipop lady, and they all make it to the park. He is determined to reach the park where there is lots of juicy food like worms so he begins to watch the humans crossing. I personally enjoyed the book a lot and would strongly recommend it to children to read at least once during their childhood.Max's story will provide an entertaining and heartwarming story to read to young children or for confident young readers to read to themselves.
