But not everyone has moved on from the murder, someone has been compiling evidence long after the police have given up on the case. As I got closer to the climax, I caught myself biting my nails, tapping my foot feverishly in anticipation. The promising premise centered on 10th anniversary reunion of university students which also a reason to drag them to the murder scene to solve the cold case of Heather’s brutal killing by stabbing 17 times with a scissor in her dorm room ( I still have conflicts about book’s name as you see the murder weapon is not knife but scissors !

At one point I suspected each of the six friends, and that is exactly how I want my thrillers to play out! I recently read and loved The Girls are All So Nice Here, which contains a similar plot and is stellar in its execution. But with strong characters and lots of great twists, In My Dreams I Hold A Knife is most definitely a standout mystery thriller. Definitely had shades of The Girls Are All So Nice Here with the reunion theme and something terrible happening while they were at school. Publishers Weekly “Packed with intrigue, scandal, and enough twists and turns to match Donna Tartt’s The Secret History. But near the end of senior year one of them was murdered and another was accused, and things were never quite the same between them.
