Description

You only have to look on social media to see the nonsense these young women have to put up with just because they want to play football. It opens with a prologue detailing the disappointment of not making it to the 2020 Olympics, and then moves on to tell us her whole football journey from childhood to the 2022 Euros. First Sentence chapter 6: „I probably should have realised that I was gay a little bit sooner than I did. A very inspiring story that journals Beth Mead's football career from the start all the way up until the infamous Euros win. Loads of insights into Beth's journey as a footballer and a celebration of everything she's achieved so far.

There might be some things that were lacking in some areas—writing, characterisation, plot etc, but there may have been a few moments that I liked. But long before this, Beth was just an ordinary kid from Hinderwell, North Yorkshire who wanted to play football. Beth Mead is one of the world’s most talented footballers – Golden Boot winner and Player of the Tournament at the UEFA Euro 2022, England Player of the Year 2021-22, Arsenal Player of the Season 2021-22, and runner-up for the 2022 Ballon d’Or. Beth takes a dive into her own personal life and what has happened over her career which helps her strive to be the best player, she takes difficult events in her life and uses them to power her mentality for the game.

this book put me through the motions, to be able to relive the euros again made me so happy, but reading about june made me so sad, but honestly if your a woso fan, read this book. Beth reminds us that despite the fact that women’s football has come a long way, especially since the Euros, it is still massively underfunded and lacking in resources compared to the men. They’ve transformed women’s football and I’m so excited to continue to follow and support the growth of the game. This book gave us an insight into Beth as a person and the struggles and hurdles she went through to get to where she is today.

From childhood, Beth wanted to play football and was supported and encouraged by her parents and younger brother. knowing that beth, someone who i look up to is currently going through the same thing as me, made me feel so much less alone. I’m just starting on my football journey myself (a bit late but it’s okay) and it was so interesting to read about how football players train and work and how much they sacrifice to reach the levels that they are at. She was also named Player of the Tournament and has since won England Women's Player of the Year and been nominated for the 2022 Ballon d'Or Féminin and the BBC Women's Footballer of the Year 2022. Now, Beth shares the challenges that shaped her, what she faced on the journey to the top, and the life events that made her stronger - from being dropped from the England squad and receiving devastating family news, to finding her best form under the guidance of Jonas Eidevall and Sarina Wiegman.I’m a huge Gooner (unofficially crowned as the biggest Gooner at Northville High School) but I’ve really only paid attention to the men’s game. I feel like I learnt a lot about professional football and what it entails and it has only increased my respect for professional footballers. However, whilst I moved away from playing during secondary school, Mead shows her dedication and commitment to the game and making her dreams come true.

Beth Mead is one of the world's most talented footballers - Golden Boot winner and Player of the Tournament at the UEFA Euro 2022, England Player of the Year 2021-22, Arsenal Player of the Season 2021-22, and nominee for the 2022 Ballon d'Or.I also loved how open and honest she was with the harder side of football, and the harder side of stepping outside of your comfort zone. I also appreciate the effort Beth puts towards women’s football, and I love that her passion is so obvious and strong.
