first as a musician, on to his pioneering work writing radio comedy with partner Barry Took, to his foray into television with future Monty Python members up to his Hollywood success. Marty was co-author the famous Monty Python 'Four Yorkshiremen' sketch and was also script editor on The Frost Report with future members of Monty Python. Die hard Marty fan or know very little about him - either way, this is a pretty decent read and an entertaining book. One has to acknowledge flaws, recognise that not everything the subject did had merit, be ready to challenge those set in stone stories the subject told about their life.

This cornucopia of random scribbling, family photos, Milliganesque poems, philosophical and political musings and insight into writing comedy explains Feldman's magpie-like mind. The shame is it sounds like an interesting time but I can't understand half the story for the poorly described detail and the writing.

Sarah Silverman * No one has ever made me laugh as hard as Marty Feldman in Young Frankenstein, he was pure comic perfection. And while I learned details about the man, I never really felt that he came to life here, not the way subjects of other biographies usually do. His dream of "making films with big-time people" had come true and he initially achieved the global success he so desired, although subsequent movie projects proved to be less successful and Feldman struggled with the Hollywood lifestyle. There was less about his personal life but that is fine; there was enough to get a flavor of his life and the challenges he encountered. In 1970, Marty, with his wife, Lauretta, moved to Los Angeles to appear in Mel Brooks's Young Frankenstein.of our time, writing scripts for comedies from "The Army Game" right through to colleborating on many of the Monty Python works - most notably, the Four Yorkshiremen being his creation. The pictures were great but not enough of an effort was made to cobble together Marty's notes to create a coherent narrative.

Although not quite hagiography, Robert Ross’s biography of Marty Feldman is too fawning to be anything other than a big old fan letter to its subject. The much-loved Marty Feldman, TV and cinema's self-proclaimed "happy fool," died at the age of 48 in 1982; forty years later, this slim, amusing autobiography was uncovered.

Towards the end of the book he gets more reflective about politics, religion and the absurdities of life. Marty Feldman was one of the most essential creative forces in British comedy embodied also by his close friends and creative partners from Beyond the Fringe (especially Peter Cook and Dudley Moore) and Monty Python (especially John Cleese, Graham Chapman and Eric Idle). Feldman subsequently became an anti-gun advocate in the US, even wearing an anti-gun t-shirt and hat pin during his appearance on the late night TV show Fridays.Anche l'argomento della malattia che ne deformò il viso viene quasi solo accennato: eppure un qualcosa del genere ha sicuramente segnato pesantemente l'attore. His unpublished biography was discovered in his former Los Angeles home by nightclub owner Mark Flanagan, who inherited the property from Feldman’s widow, Lauretta. Like so many other people who ended up in the performing arts, he was evidently a neurotic all his life. A childhood injury, a car crash, a boating accident, and reconstructive eye surgery may also have contributed to his appearance.
